Core Drilling
Core drilling is a system that drills and collects a core (cylindrical) sample in the state it is found, i.e. in-situ. The system used is known as ‘wireline coring’ where a diamond impregnated (hollow) core bit is used. The core bit cuts until the core barrel is full while the drilling mud/cutting oil both cools/lubricates the bit and acts as a medium for lifting the cuttings to the surface.

Recon Drilling provides Core Drilling in the following sizes:

  • PQ     Ø 85.0 mm (3.345 in)
  • PQ3   Ø 83.0 mm (3.27 in)
  • HQ     Ø 63.5 mm (2.5 in)
  • HQ3   Ø 61.1 mm (2.406 in)
  • NQ2   Ø 50.6 mm (2.0 in)
  • NQ    Ø 47.6 mm (1.87 in)
  • BQ    Ø 36.4 mm (1.433 in)
